Winding Down

Long time time, no see! Well, it’s been like a few days. As the deadlines came closer it became imperative to full focus on my work. And, finally… everything is done! I am free for a good while now. I ended up asking for an extension on the deadline, and that gave me the wiggle room to complete all that was due.
Now, let me take the opportunity to reflect upon my experience:
- From now in my studies, I should “revise” my initial notes. Which I believe is restating the material in my own words and from memory to demonstrate my understanding. This will make comprehension exams easier.
- Break down the process of projects. Outline, to-do list, and so on. By establishing systems, hopefully the process of ideating and writing will become streamlined.
- It takes me at least 2-3 days to complete an essay when it is all I focus on. I need to give myself that much time in advance before a deadline. This is not including the preparation process (i.e. absorbing the source material and taking notes)
- For the love of the universe, accomplish small steps throughout a process rather than letting it pile up near the end!
The most painful part of this process was the yearning to dabble in my own curiosities. The material I was learning was not dull, but it sucked that it was the only thing I could really focus on. My curiosities are at their strongest when they become temptations for which I must resist. There’s definitely a poem in that concept
Part of my hopes with this blog is that it will motivate me to be more consistent. Now what?
The next few weeks will serve as a nice rest period. My two main goals are to make progress on my research project which is due by the end of this year, and to make a clean slate before school starts back up.
